Automatic Refunds From TfL: How to Claim my Refund ?

At some point or the other, you might have faced a delay in the transportation. So the point is, what are you supposed to do in such a case. The answer to this question is crystal clear for the people living in London. A refund on the journeys where there is a delay of at least 15 minutes in the case of Underground and DLR journeys can be claimed. Also, you can claim refunds for a delay by at least 30 minutes on TfL Rail or Overground.

There is a new company that has made a promise to do all the hard work for you in this situation, its name is Reclaim. This company scans your journey automatically to check whether you deserve a refund or not. However, there isn’t that much awareness about this service among the people leading to many people believing that TfL does this automatically.

For this, you will have to give Train Reclaim your TfL details, which include login id and password. There is a promise that Train Reclaim has made that it will not share the details. Another good thing is that does not hold the complete financial information. It also makes sure that the information you give is safe by using ‘secure socket layers’.

The following are the requirements to use train Reclaim:

  • The first thing that you need is a free TfL account. You should also add your Oyster or other contactless cards to it. This is necessary if you want to use the tool.
  • The next thing that you have to do is to connect your TfL Account to Train Reclaim. Select the ‘Connect Now’ option on the train Reclaim website. After this enter your email id and then login using your TfL username and password. After this is done, Reclaim will check for delays from the past 28 days and also on every journey that you make from then onwards. If Reclaim finds a delay, it will automatically file a claim with TfL for you.
  • Whenever the claims made on your behalf are successful, you will get the notification by email. It usually takes a few days for the refund. The amount will be credited to you TfL account if you used an Oyster card. If you have used a contactless card, then it will be directly refunded to that card.

The service provided by Reclaim is absolutely free and it does not plan to include any charges for it in the future as well. For all those who have problems getting the refund and can’t quite spare time for that, Train Reclaim really is a blessing in disguise.
